We’ve compiled some frequently asked questions from our past clients to answer whatever queries you may have.
Please check them out below.
Rates, Payments, and Booking
|We are a family of two adults and two children (1.5 and 3.5 years old) traveling to the Margaret region. Do you charge the same rate for kids regardless of age?||Kids under 6 months are free.|
|Hi I'm looking for accommodation for 3 adults and 2 children under 3. Would your place be suitable? Do you have availability?||Yes Olive Hill is ideal for families. What ages are your two children? Children under 1 are free.
We have a porta cot, a toddler bed, and a bottom bunk with a safety rail, you take your pick for the two kids. You just need to let us know before you arrive.
Please check out our floor plan so you can picture your sleeping arrangements.
The farm is 145 acres so lots of room to play, trampoline, sand pit and lots of garden to play in.
|Is the pricing per night?||Yes the pricing is per night of introductory offer from $150 Bed and Breakfast for 2 people|
|Just wondering if it was possible to stay for one night only too?||Sorry no we do not offer one night stays.|
|It's a little confusing on Airbnb as to whether the price quoted is for 1 or 2 rooms?||As our description states, we have the two rooms (only booked as one when requested as you will see why on the layout). One room is open plan living room, dining, kitchenette with one queen bed. There is another bedroom off this very large room which has a queen double bed. The bathroom is connected to the living/dining/ queen bed area. You can check the floor plan on AirBnB.|
|Can I just find out if payment is made by credit card? We have found that international banking is quite a hassle and not comfortable with paying in full even before arrival at accommodation (something that is very common with a lot of other places)?||Payments are through Airbnb and I am pretty sure credit card is fine. As for payment upfront, yes I think this is the way they work but you will have to check. Remember Airbnb have a great secure payment gateway and you have our refund policy stated in our listing. We do not receive any money from Airbnb until you begin your stay, so your money is secure with them.|
|Should I be booking through the Airbnb system directly, or do you need the booking done separately elsewhere?||We have found that booking directly through Airbnb works best.|
|May I know if the farm entry is free or chargeable?||There is no entry fee to the farm, we encourage guests to walk around and enjoy the space, and when I am home I also enjoy giving guests a tour. The animals on the farm are: chickens, sheep, pigs , cows and horses 🙂
You can see them all anytime you like.
Accommodation, Amenities, and Checking In/Out
|Are all your beds queen beds? No single beds?||Yes both beds are Queen double beds, you will see from the floor plan on Airbnb for our listing that they are in separate rooms also. There is also a set of bunk beds in the bedroom. Suitable for adults or kids.|
|Do you have babybeds and highchairs in the apartment?||Yes we have a complimentary porta cot (up to 1-1/2 to 2 yrs old) and high chair. We have bunk beds for children and can put a rail on the bottom bunk to keep children from falling out.|
|We are only a couple, does it mean we'll have the whole place by ourselves?||Yes, you have the place to your self!|
|We are 7 - 4 adults and 2 children and 1 toddler (aged 3) . Is that over the limit?||Yes it is over the limit, we can take a maximum of 6 people.|
|Is the bunk bed able to accommodate adult?||Yes the bunk bed easily accommodates an adult.|
|May I know what time is good for us to check in?||Check in is from 2pm.|
|What's the check-in arrangement like?||Basically any time after 2pm and we can leave the door open for your accommodation if no one is here when you arrive.|
|Just wanted to check whether there'll be hair dryer?||Yes there is a hair dryer you can use.|
Breakfast and Cooking Facilities
|Will any breakfast be provided?||Yes, a delicious breakfast hamper is provided each morning with freshly baked bread.|
|Is there a kitchen equipped for cooking?||No there is only a kitchenette and BBQ. No oven, just a microwave, kettle and toaster in your accommodation.
For stays of 3 nights or more guests can use the BBQ which has a hob should you wish to boil things. There are pots pans etc. We do plan to install a fully fitted kitchen but that is further down the line. A $150 deposit is required to use the BBQ and pots and pans etc.
|Just wanted to check if the kitchen has any cooking utensils and if we'll be allowed to cook some simple meals there?||The accommodation is "bed & breakfast" although we do provide a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster & kettle. You are welcome to use our BBQ for stays of 3 nights or more. We also have a cupboard with cutlery, plates/bowls and some basic utensils which we now ask for a deposit of $150. This money is fully refundable on check out, providing anything that you have used has been washed and put away again ;). We can show you when you arrive.|
Parking and Driving
|Would like to check with you if the roads leading in and out of your place are paved or dirt roads?||The road to our farm is a gravel road.|
|Would it be a problem to drive to you farm at night?||Not a problem driving at night here, it will only just be dark by 7.30pm in summer and 5pm in winter, just drive a little slower at night (to the conditions) to allow for any Kangaroos that might be out.|
|How long will it take to reach Olive Hill Farmstay from Perth international Airport?||Approximately three and a half hours by car.|
|Please advise direction from Perth to Olive Hill Farmstay Bed & Breakfast?||You will receive a map from Airbnb with images and GPS location for directions from Margaret River. Google maps is also very good. But you head south from Perth on the Kwinana Freeway, which becomes the Bussell Highway further south, (passing Mandurah *do not go into Mandurah as this adds 30 minutes to your trip, Bunbury, Busselton, Vasse and Cowaramup).|
Attractions and Activities
|Is your farm near to Dunsborough and the Yallingup area?||We are 45 min drive from Dunsborough and Yallingup. 10 mins from Margaret River and 20-25 mins from the beach.|
|Hoping to learn horse-riding at your farm if its possible?||I wish we could teach you here but this is not something we do, but we can highly recommend Jesters Flat, just down the road, I, Benji, used to work there and know it is a great place to go for a ride, beginners to advanced. Jesters Flat number is (phone number hidden). Feel free to let Paul or Fiona know you are staying with us.|
|Do you have nearby restaurants / supermarket?||There are many local restaurants in town (Margaret River) and 3 supermarkets also, all only a 10 to 12 minute drive away.|
|Is there any animals that my kids can actually touch and have a feel?||You may get to say hello to a horse or two and touch it but that is only when the horses feel like coming over and joining in. There are also chickens which sometimes come to say hello.
Other than that the animals can only be seen not patted, but I assure you all the animals are up close to see (most will move away when you try to go and pat them, including the Guinea Fowl), and the Kangaroos even usually turn up in the evening.
|Any places of interest to recommend in your neighbourhood?||Lots and lots, we can advise you when you arrive but to give you some ideas to look up:
The Busselton Jetty ( a great place to stop at on your way to us) The Berry Farm, 34 degrees south, Jesters Flat horse riding, The Margaret River Chocolate Company, Brown Hill, Colonial Brewery, Millers Ice cream, The White Elephant cafe.
There is just so much to see and do that it is easier to meet in person and find out what you like.
