Olive Hill Farm

March News

We have had another brilliant month in Margaret River.  The Cowaramup Sundowners in February really are brilliant.  These are evening concerts from 5pm till 7pm every Sunday evening in February where everyone is welcome to come for a gold coin donation.  We love it.

Whats happened last month at Olive Hill Farm.

Emma is now crawling at just over 8 months.  She is a star in our eyes.  Emma definitely brings a smile to our faces every day.IMG_2290

The sheep have grown in numbers with a few additions and we have started to feed them but they are still a bit weary of us.

We have family visiting from Scotland who have found the weather a welcome change after getting on the plane at -5 degrees Celsius in Scotland to get off in t Perth to 40 degrees Celsius at 6pm!

Rosa Brook fire shed has been great as usual with all the community turning our supporting their calender launch which has some amazing pictures and quotes, all fire based naturally.

Benji has finally had a chance to use the wood lathe he got for Christmas, it is now only a matter of time to see what the end product is like.

Weather is great, social is good and the launch of the Cowparade at the Colonial Brewery was just brilliant.

Check out the Colonial Brewery if you are down because they have had a change of owner and management.  They now have great food and atmosphere to go with what we think is the best beer down hear.  They even have won plenty of awards to prove it.

That’s all for this month and we hope the pictures brought a smile to your face as they did for us.

February News

Welcome to the new year.

January has been chock a block for us.  The cottage has only been empty for a couple of days last month and Benji has been off farm a lot with “Hire A Farmer” shearing and fencing.

The Guinea fowl chicks have hatched!IMG_2222 There are four of them but one is like Happy Feet ( a little dopey) as we had to help it break the shell to arrive alive.

Guests complimentary breakfast hampers now have the addition of our own eggs as the chickens are now laying well.

Wood chips galore. We are making lots of new woodchips to add to the flower beds as mulch and give to the chickens to make great vegie patch manure for us.  This is making some lovely views accross the farm and some easier management of the flower beds.

The weather has continued to be perfect with many chances to swim in the river and children, even big kids too are enjoying playing with the inflated tractor tyre.

The cow parade is coming.   This should be a spectacular event with the chance for visitors to the region to see many venues and activities  they might never have been to or contemplated, simply by following the cow trail map.  Good luck to you in finding all the cows, there are over 70 of them.We are sure you will enjoy your trip to Margaret River

Have a good month, we look forward to welcoming back past guests (remember to book early to avoid disapointment and get your 10% discount) and meeting new.

Regards

Benji Helen and Emma

IMG_1876The holiday accommodation has been very busy with families enjoying the space and swimming in the Margaret River at the farm.

IMG_1844-1Christmas was great fun and Benji jumped at the chance to play the bagpipes, Aussie style, with his cousin Rory who was over on holiday.

The sheep now have a boy friend, a wiltshire horn wool shedding ram lamb.  So in around five and a bit months we may have our first lambs born on the farm.
